The LA Kings will hold public tryouts for the 2016-17 LA Kings Chariot Staff on Tuesday, June 28th from 4:00PM- 7:30 PM at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. Tryouts are open to both men and women with an understanding of the sport of hockey and will consist of in on-ice drills (run by Kings Radio Color Commentator/ former forward Daryl Evans), as well as off-ice/group interviews with a panel of judges. Those who wish to tryout must register online by Monday June 27th at noon.
Check-in on Tuesday will take place from 4:00- 4:30 PM. Tryouts will begin at 4:40 PM with the round of group interviews testing hockey knowledge and public speaking skills. At 6:30 PM, those trying out must take the ice for the on-ice portion of the tryouts testing hockey skills and ability. Everyone must bring a warm-up suit, skates, gloves, stick, and a helmet with a cage or facemask.
The LA Kings Chariot staff debuted over 18 years ago and is a co-ed interactive group that represents the Los Angeles Kings organization at games, clinics, and events throughout the community including charitable functions, hockey development events, birthday parties and promotional events. A main focus of the Chariot Staff is teaching children the basic skills of hockey at community-based facilities and schools through the donation of equipment, training sessions, and manuals.
